The Islamic Republic of Iran (Persian: جمهور اسلام اران), before 1935 known as Persia
The country is a breadth of deserts and steppes, surrounded by mountains. Iran has a dry climate with warm summers and cool winters.
Iran's landscape is characterized by rugged mountain ranges that share different pool or plateaus from one another. The populous western part is mostly mountainous with rows as the Zagros Mountains and Alborzfjellene. The latter is also Iran's highest point Dama Vandals at 5607 meters. The eastern part consists mostly of uninhabited desert basins with the occasional salt lake.
Iran is regarded as one of the 15 states that make up the "cradle of mankind."
